  • NeuroStar TMS
  • NeuroStar Advanced TMS Therapy

    How it works?

In patients experiencing depression, there is often significantly less activity throughout regions of their brain. This is believed to be a possible cause of the depression itself. Neurostar TMS focuses on treating the source of the depression. It sends magnetic pulses which electrically stimulate the brain and increase activity.

  • Spravato
  • Spravato

    How it works?

Spravato (Esketamine) is a nasal spray used to treat severe, treatment-resistant depression. The treatment is believed to work by affecting glutamate, an excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain. Researchers believe the medication allows new synapses (connections) to be created between neurons. This can allow for drastically new behaviors and ways of thinking to be formed. Spravato has been seen to have potential additional benefits when used in tandem with TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation).

    What to Expect

To begin treatment, patients must take Spravato twice a week for the first four weeks and then once a week for the next four weeks. After those initial eight weeks, they will talk to the doctors to decide what schedule is best for them. Treatments are administered in-office to patients. It’s similar to taking any regular nasal spray. There is no IV administered for this treatment.

    Before Treatment

Patients should not eat the hour before treatment and should not operate heavy machinery or drive the day they receive the medication.

    During Treatment

-During the two hour monitoring period, patients must stay in the office but can watch television, take a nap, listen to music, or whatever is most comfortable for the patient.

-Patients can experience an out-of-body experience and some drowsiness from the treatment which should resolve within two hours.

    After Treatment

After treatments, patients must be monitored by the staff for two hours before they can leave. Spravato acts quickly to alleviate the symptoms of depression and patients can feel the effects as quickly as a few hours after the initial treatment. The full effects are usually seen after two weeks of treatment.

    Is Spravato Right For You?

Spravato is meant for use in patients with severe, treatment-resistant depression. It is only approved for patients who have failed multiple medication trials.
